The Mayo.ie project brand identity which was created by the team at Designwest for Mayo County Council is probably one of our best known creative projects. The Brand has become one of the most widely recognised brand identities in Ireland.

The Mayo.ie Brand Identity was created to reflect the true attributes that make County Mayo what it is today.Mayo is very unique in terms of its people and landscape. it is rich in culture & history strong and has a very healthy, vibrant and eclectic mix of business types which all call Mayo home. The Identity which is effectively a wordmark is crafted to represent the idea that Mayo is a very strong & powerful county which is made up of many people, many places and many parts. The identity itself of course represents the shape of an ‘M’ which itself is formed from many pieces of varying shapes and sizes each of which theoretically represent the people, places and parts which all come together to make Mayo what it is.

The brief for designwest was to create a modern and functional logo design for Mayo County Council which would represent the county of Mayo on a worldwide stage and since its inception this is exactly what the brand has done. It is instantly recognisable and has been used to promote the county of Mayo on both a national and international stage to great effect with the feedback on the logo has always been very positive and complimentary. Indeed the creation of this brand identity for Mayo County Council led to a number of other county councils following suit by creating unique brand identities to represent their own counties.
